Church documents are tremendously valuable but are often difficult to find and inaccessible. This series will present a way for Catholic educators to familiarize themselves with the documents by placing them together and using the podcast format to share the learning.
I highly recommend you read each of the 9 selected church documents first before listening to the corresponding podcast. Don’t set out to read all of them at once! Read one and then listen to the podcast. You’ll find that the podcasts build on the foundations of the earlier podcasts. This series could work well as an independent study course or as a PLC.
Of course, there are more church documents than are presented here. The Cardinal Newman Society provides a nice annotated bibliography and the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) also provides a nice overview.
I recommend purchasing At the Heart of the Church: Selected Documents of Catholic Education. You can order the book here. However, I have provided hyperlinks for the documents below.
